Milight RGB protocol supported?

#1 Post by Mariete » 15 Dec 2016, 11:35

Hi.

I just installed the a NRF24L01+ module in my RFLink, bought at Nodo Shop (PCB V 1.2).

I spent hours, with firmware .44 and .45, trying to find out why it didn't received data from my Milight RGB remote until I tried with a RGBW remote (the one with 4 "channels") and it received the date at first try.

Isn't the Milight RGB protocol supported? I see nothing with RFLinkLoader

My remote is like this one:

There are currently 3 protocol versions of MiLight:
1. Warm/Cold White remotes/bulbs/led controllers and RGB remotes/bulbs/led controllers
2. RGBW remotes/bulbs/led controllers
3. RGBWW aka CCT remotes/bulbs/led controllers

They are distinctive because there are important differences between them.
Nr. 3 is not yet supported. We are receiving the signals, but the protocol uses scrambling. We are working on sorting this out.
Nr. 1 is supported. However, note that this protocol version has dimming of the brightness in up/down steps. This does not work that great because there is no way to know what the actual dim level is and you can not go to a specific brightness.
Nr.2 is probably the best out there. It is supported and it also allows dimming to a specific brightness level. Thus perfect control of the devices is possible.

Protocol nr. 1 and 2 are received with a single NRF24L01. Make sure the NRF is wired properly for Milight.
If you can receive protocol nr. 2 then protocol nr. 1 should also work.
However, note that there are some asian clones doing the rounds. These might work slightly different due to bad copying ;)
Turn on debug to see if any data is received. Here is explained how to make debug logs:
