Milight zones how do RFLink and zone controller relate

#1 Post by Sijpkes » 16 Oct 2017, 20:31

Suppose I have a bulb paired in zone 1 with a milight zone controller.

How does this relate to pairing the same bulp directly via RFLink, when:
I set zone to 00
I set zone to 01
I set the zone to a number above 04, lets say 41

In other words can I make in domoticz a switch which controls a certain zone via the zone controller as well as a switch which does the same via RFLink. This would mean that the manual control is reflected in the other switch as well. I can do this when I learn the zonecontroller, but does it also work if I use the matching zone and pair manually, or do I miss the actual concept here. In addition I like to control each bulb also individually when needed, I think of doing this with a zone higher the 04 and with each an uniq ID, is this the right way ?

How many controls can be paired to a single bulp.?
I would like to use:
- zone controller
- iBOX
- Domoticz/RFLink zone (to control the bulp in a group)
- Domoticz/RFLink uniq ID (to control the bulp individually)

Thanks,

Peter

I only have remotes and bulbs, so I cant really say how ibox is working.
But as for RFlink, remotes and bulbs the situation is:

Milight remotes have an address which is paired to the bulb.
Besides the address there is also a zone number.
This could be 1,2,3,4 for 4 zone remotes. There are also single zone remotes, 8zone and even a 99 zone remote. The 8 and 99 zone are RGB+CCT remotes.
Besides the zone number there is also a group number (zone 0)

On a normal 4 zone remote you can pair 4 individual bulbs (or pair many bulbs to the same address+zone number, but not control them individually)
When you do something with zone 0 you do that to all the bulbs on zone 1,2,3 and 4.

With RFlink things work more or less in the same way as RFlink acts as a remote control.
However, with RFlink you can choose the address yourself, this give you the freedom to address and control 262140 individual bulbs.

Ok, clear explanation. I get it now.

Is it correct that a single bulp can be paired on 16 individual ID's ?

I think your support is great.
