Trouble with RFLink on SYNOLOGY

#1 Post by EDreamZ » 16 Nov 2016, 18:13

Hi,

i've just installed RFLink on Arduino MEGA with USB cable, updated succesfully to the R44, connected to my Synology DS214Play with a Capacitor of 10 microFarad between RESET and Ground and finally correctly configured on my Domoticz APP.

i can read 2 Device, 1 Temp Sensor and an OWL CM180

the only strange thing is that RFLink stop to recive data after 5/7 minutes from start and the only thing i can do is to disconnect e reconnect it from the USB, but each time after 5/7 minutes it hangs.

what's wrong ?

Thanks in advance
Giuseppe

Connect RFlink to a PC and run RFlink loader to see if it also stops aftre 7 minutes or not..
Here you can see how to do that:

Check the USB chip on your Arduino.. is it an Atmega chip or a CH340 chip..?

I bought it from you...it's an original ATMEGA2560.

Thats impossible because I do not sell anything.
You might have bought it from the Nodo shop, they have a CH340 and a non CH340 version.
The CH340 version works directly on the Synology and no capacitor is needed.

:D :D :D sorry...

i know the story of the capacitor...and i put one capacitor of 10 microFarad between reset and GND when the RFLINK is connected to SYNOLOGY...

Well.. if you have an Arduino with CH340 you should not use the capacitor

Again...my RFLINK is equipped with ATMEL serial port...works like a charme connected to a PC without the capacitor...works only for 5/7 minutes connected to a SYNOLOGY DS214Play with the capacitor...

anyone can help ? somebody has experienced my same trouble ?

Thanks in Advance

Maybe get an Arduino Mega witha CH340 serial controller.. costs around 5 euros..

Increasing or decreasing capacity could change something ?

Since I'm having a similar problem are you saying the Megas without CH340 are "bad"? Also bought a complete kit from Nodo Webshop.

The version with Ch340 works a bit smoother on a Synology than the version with atmega usb chip.
Alternative option is to get a FTDI usb to serial converter and hook the arduino with that to the Synology USB port (thus not using the USB on board of the Arduino)

I'm running on a Raspberry PI 3. Would it make any difference? Please define "smoother", we are talking about a 57600 baud serial interface, not 4000000.

This thread is about known issues with Synology and Arduino devices..
Arduino's with an Atmega serial IO chip have this ussue while Arduino's with a CH340 serial IO chip do not.
