Making a smart smoke detector

#1 Post by karl222 » 26 Nov 2017, 17:59

Hi,
in my house i am using Merten Argus Basic smoke detectors, which I want to become smart. They look good and Pollin has them for EUR 15,-/per 3 PCs. I bought them for 18,- each some years ago

I have found out, that they use an IC called A5366CLWT. datasheet is here https://www.digikey.at/product-detail/d ... ND/1972834

There is an I/O pin 7 which is supposed to go on high in case of Alarm but I couldn't find out how this pin really reacts. Can I connect a step down converter to come down from 9V to 3.3V and get it to VCC of ESP and that's it? ESP would then send a message on boot...

how do you guys see that?

regards
Karl

probably not. It is unlikely that the Output pin of the smoke detector can provide enough current to run the ESP. You will probably have to think of a similar solution than for your water sensor .
Domoticz on Raspi 2 -- 14 ESP units (hacked Sonoff,NodeMCUs, Wemos, self-built units) running with RC140- Mega 2.0.0 dev8

I would be happy to drive a mosfet for powering up the esp... e.g. a bs170 but don’t know how to...

Powering down with an AMS1117 would be better. And then set the ESP into deep sleep. That could run for a while....
