domoticz and espeasy between 2 router

#1 Post by pitrio » 18 Jan 2019, 18:31

dear all,

I have one "espeasy" connected via WiFi to a FritzBox router at IP: 192.168.x.y and from WebPage I saw that work fine.
In another place, I have one "domoticz server" connected to a different IP true class (not 192.168.x.y).
In "espeasy" I have defined in "controllers":
domoticz via HTTP, 8080 port, IP, user name e paswd.
Also in "Domoticz" I have defined the same user/paswd and "domoticz" is behind another router/firewall with 8080 port opened.
Unfortunalty, in domoticz i can't see data collect from espeasy.

Some help/hint/idea?

thank you so much!

Hi

I am not an expert. Think there is some routing you can do.

Is it possible to change the other network to the same subnet?

I always use several routers toghether in the same subnet. Only the first router doing the dhcp stuff and firewall.
Plus the routers on static ip.

I think easiest way would use MQTT to communicate between the two sites.
ESP Easy Flasher [flash tool and wifi setup at flash time]
ESP Easy Webdumper [easy screendumping of your units]
ESP Easy Netscan [find units]

Basically this is possible.

If a device can't find the target IP address in the same network the data packets are automatically routed to the standard gateway.
If you use a 192.168.1.X network address with your ESPeasy device and the target has a 10.x.y.z address, the data packets
are sent to the standard gateway of the 192.168.1.X network. Vice versa the controller in the 10.x.y.z network
sees a 192.168.1.X target address so it is sent to the standard gateway of the 10.x.y.z network.
(Assuming all devices are configured correctly....)

The problem comes with the routing devices.
As 10.x.y.z and 192.168.1.x networks are usually not routed the routers don't know where to send the data packets.
Both routers need a so called "routing table" that says "data packets to 129.168.1.x can bes end via <IP of router on the other side>.
Without such a table th router does not know what to do with the data packets.

With this you might run into a big problem.
The FritzBox (at elast the new Version FritzOS 7.01) supports routing table entries but many home routers do not.
You will have to check with the other router if you can make a routing table entry there.

Another problem that might occur:
If you use an internet connection between the routers the IP addresses on the WAN side might change from time to time.
This makes a static IP route (entry in the routing table) very difficult as each router must know the IP address of
the other one in the WAN.

dear all,

No, i can't change domoticz IP, it's connect to stable IP 193.x.y.z and I have to use this. In the other side, my EspEasy is connected to on internal IP 192.168.x.y.
I also tried to do the hints that i found on post: Esp easy on Domoticz with public IP [Solved]
but nothing...

I hope in other hint...

thank you so much!

And you don't want to use MQTT?
