Copy ESP Easy settings from one device to the other ??

#1 Post by mischa72 » 13 May 2018, 13:46

Hi all,

I'm kinda new to posting to this forum, so I hope this question lands in the right spot.

As the only difference between my clients is the IP-address and name I'd like to know if it is possible to copy settings from one device to another or to preconfigure a "bin-file" so all the settings will be set during flashing.
This would save me a lot of time setting up my automation.

Regards,
Mischa

You can pre-configure a bin file or use my Flasher (link in signature). The later will let you push you WiFi settings and name it.

@Grovkillen, Your applications are really great additions.
I love them!
These are mostly/primary for initial configuration or documentation.

But i think it could be very usefull if some kind of distributing to all the devices could be done from wihtin espeasy when you have a lot up and running, or too lazy to copy settings by hand... ;)

It could be usefull for ex.
- If changing wifi password
- If changing settings for the controller
- If changing notification settings
or even a 'rolling' firmware upgrade ?

Maybe this can be added somewhere in the future ?

Regards Bart

Yes, those arguments is definitely something we as Dev understand. We setup allot of units and we're probably one of the most lazy group of people you can meet. With that being said, the future will address features like this. Thanks for the feedback.

You didn't see it, but I just dropped on my knees to thank you :D This is exactly what I was looking for. Tomorrow I'll try to flash the remaining devices I have here.

Many thanks !!!

Mischa

Can you please tell me how to create a "rules"-file? Should this be a txt-file?

Mischa
