1208mega, existing rules config does not work anymore?

#1 Post by pwassink » 09 Dec 2018, 12:20

Hello,

Did a couple of esp-updates today with the yesterday released version mega-20181208
On one of the esp's i had a ruleset working what produced a "co2-stoplight" led display on certain values
that stopped working, the rules file is still there.

Tried to enter the rule config in the empty page which appear when you select Add in the rules menu
but then the event name field requires a certain format which i cant find yet.
looked at the rules manualpage under the ? button but could not find it there either.

How can i fix this ?

Found the new function in the tools, advanced config menu, select Old Engine enabled, after that reboot esp and the old rules work again..

Remains the question how to migrate from old to new rules engine and what the Eventname naming convention should be there
Tried a single letter in capital and lowercase, and number also, both were not accepted.

Hi I have some trouble too trying to use new engine and figuring out what is the right event name.
I'm absolutely new and mega-20190121 is my first esp easy use. So i'm stick to use the old engine that allows me to work.

The old engine is the only engine, the new one is purely for testing a new concept. Thus the lack of documentation. It will most likely not work as it's working right now once released and your rules will break if you have them setup for the new engine. So I don't encourage anyone to use the new engine on daily basis (use it only on testing nodes).
