Esp8266 8 channel relay board

#1 Post by pacitzu » 06 Feb 2016, 20:56

I would buy this relay board with Esp8266.
It will be possible to replace the firmware with ESP Easy?

The documentation for this board on the website is scarce.

When I look at the pictures it looks like:
ESP8266-12 E/F very likely to have 4MB flash memory.
JP2 looks like a programming connection, with Gnd, Vcc, Rxd, Txd and Reset.
The ULN2803 is the relaisdriver and there seems to be no optical isolation , which are often implemented on relaisboards for sale at Ebay/Aliexpress.

So when you buy this board and solder a header on jp2 you probably will succeed in flashing the latest ESPEasy on it.

However:
The 8 relais seems to be driven by 8 GPIO pins from the ESP. The original firmware will most likely also use RX/TX GPIO_1/3 as outputs to have enough output_pins for the relais.
When you flash ESPEasy on it you cannot use these 2 pins as outputs.

So in the most optimistic view you can flash it with espeasy and effectively use 6 relais.
