Possibility to get PWM flickerfree ?

#1 Post by Rampler » 22 Mar 2018, 17:00

Hi, is there a possibility to get the ESP PWM function flickerfree ?
From PWM,5,3 until PWM,5,200 my LCD Display's flickers, over 200, no flicker...

I don't think it's possible as ESP8266 PWM is software generated, if you need steady PWM signal you need to use an external hardware, like an arduino or an expader (PCA9685)

Before somebody gets mislead again:

PCF8574 is a pure GPIO expander and does not do PWM!
If you want to gnerate PWM with an external chip, use the PCA 9685.
As mentioned in github a while ago it is supported but needs some improvement.

sorry Shardan you are right... initially I remember both expanders were PWM compliant but looking better your statement is correct, sorry!
