my name is Daniel. I'm originally from Germany (Cologne area) but live in the states since 2015.
Earlier this year I slowly started with setting up a smart home with "Home Assistant". Several projects in the Home Assistant forum are linked to ESP8266's and I told myself I should look into it
First "project" I did with an ESP8266 was OpenGarage. I don't use the open / close feature (I already have a Z-Wave opener) but use the door status feature to check if the door is open / closed and if the car is in the garage. I'll install a second one for the other garage door / car, soon.
I also have a Sonoff sitting around and need to flash it as well...
And who knows, maybe I can find some more projects here
