433MHz repeater

Is a device like this repeater of any use?
They are all over the place in the various china outlets, but I wonder how generic/specific they are.
It mentions "Support encoding: PT2240/1.5M, PT2262/1.2M/2.2M/3.3M/4.7M " and when looking up PT2240 gives a series of RF chips, which I presume are commonly used. The 1.5M~4.7M is I am guessing the bit-rate.
But does this mean a type of low level modulation (AM, FM, etc) of bits, meaning the device is pretty generic, or does it refer to a higher encoding level?
One is underway anyway, if nothing else to satisfy my curiosity.
But my use case would be to repeat smoke detectors (FA20RF) from inside a building/shed (with a *lot* of aluminium foil shielded insulation) to the main house.
Really: no RF goes in or out of that building, I also already have a DECT repeater for that reason, positioned strategically in an air vent.
