Public Iot service

Have issue with iot server. It's public and in settings I can't find where to enter API key. There just hostname or IP, port, password. How I can use free iot service, for example like ubidots? Or it's only for private servers? Same about mqtt - can't find how to use with custom mqtt. Thanks.
