From time to time, you have to find some more or less useful applications for the things we do with our beloved ESP modules.
Inspired by the LCS Doorsensor mod, i'm currently prototyping a battery powered Servo controlled "Clock". Although the clock may not be so inspiring, it's just an easy way to verify stability of the whole. I could think of a classic looking temperature indicator, a LUX indicator, or ??
Prototype stage, so it does not look as nice as could be atm:
Powered by a modded LSC doorsensor, inspired by Fanofhue forum member:
BOM:
* Ikea Ribba 10x15 photo frame
* LSC Doorsensor from Action store
* ATTiny85 to wake the module every 10 minutes (guess this could also be a simple NE555 timer?)
* SG90 mini servo
* a "sate prikker"
* 10k resistor to avoid "power-up twitching" from the servo
Total project costs: approx 17 euro.

There is another alternative for full circle rotation like clock which could be implemented using ESP32.

It's always nice to see these kind of DIY projects in it's early prototype stage. As i'm planning to use it as a classic gauge style indicator, i think that a servo is a better match in this case. In general, i think a servo is preferred, considering the following aspects:
* The servo has exact position control
* The servo does not require a special motor driving circuitry and i guess it draws less current while active.
* The servo seems to run well with 3V3 VCC, although its rated for 4.8-6 volts.

Some dials in car dashboards also use servo's (some others use stepper motors)
So maybe you can also get servo's from "de sloop" for gauge applications?
