Hi,
i have four EasyESP Board D1 mini ESP-12F with software ESP_Easy_mega_20210802_normal_ESP8266_4M1M.bin and they worked fine.
Now I want upgrade my system with next ESP board, but the wifi range isnt wide enought.
So I toke a D1 mini ESP 12F module, dissolder the ESP12f board and solder an ESP8266-07 an that board. The chip had the same markings and all ports that were connected to subboard D1 mini are the same. I thought the difference between this boards is the onboard wifi antenna on 12F and the ipex connector to connect external antenna that helps to dicrease the Wifi range.
So i want to programm the device, everything looks the same like normal D mini, but after FlashESP Programmer said, Programming succesfully, the device did not start. No Wifi connection and no serial monitor with helpful information (only this string came back: "rl lÉr☻$↕Ôn♀♀♀─♀lÃ♀b|ÄÉ☻↕Ær↕b─♀b♦‗nn☻lnn↕b♀b∟pý$b♫lrl↕Ér‗Æn↕nnbp ³"). I try same steps an D1 min1 with 12F and it works fine.
Did someone knows other differences between this ESP boards or has a solution for that problem?
Thanks a lot.

Re: solder ESP-07 on D1 mini board with ESP12F / dont start after flashing
Did you use the ESP-07 or the ESP-07S?
Only the latter one has 4MB flash.
You can also look at the output of esptool.py while flashing as it does output the detected flash size.

Thanks a lot.
I buy ESP-07 with only 1M flash, so i try t flash the ....normal_ESP8266_1M.bin and it works fine.
It is so easy if you know the problem.

I thought those ESP-07 (non-S) versions had 512k.
But apparently your version has 1M.
I'm not sure if all ESP-07 modules have 1M flash, so be aware.
