Re: Espeasy mqtt to HA?

I'm using many devices with espeasy to talk with HA, and unlike tasmota, one doesn't need to specify a value template. All I have are entries like this: sensor 1: - platform: mqtt name: "room name" state_topic: "name_of_unit/device_name/temperature" unit_of_measurement: "F&q...

Re: ESP Easy Netscan

As far as node name list, my list always is always blank on all devices. All my units do have a unique Unit number, but they apparently don't see each other. Not sure what type of comm protocol they are trying to use or if there is some other configuration that I don't have set up for them to see e...

Re: ESP Easy Netscan

I just tried 0.00.016, the local IP detected was incorrect, the one it found was for a VM that isn't currently running. I changed it to the correct subnet and did a deep scan. It cycled through the correct IP range, but didn't find anything. I then tried it on a different machine that doesn't have a...

Re: Powstro (sonoff) [multiple trials] - SOLVED

Flaky issues when writing, and odd required timing would qualify, could be related to the power supply. Adding a capacitor can help. Since I last responded on this thread, I was having some flakey writes on a device that was solved by adding a 470uf low voltage cap at the power output of my serial b...

Re: Powstro (sonoff)

Agreed, I would never try to run 10A through these, 1-2A should be ok, maybe 200 watts at most (non-inductive load!!). Not only are the traces questionable, I wouldn't trust the tiny relay either. These are great for home lighting which these days is fairly low power, but they are not for heaters, r...

Re: ESP Easy Flasher

I just tried an older sonoff (with "Force -DOUT" unchecked, and "Halt app before port flash" checked). After FW flashing, it waited for the manual reset, then proceeded. The Wifi information was set correctly and connected to my network (cool), however the name of the device rema...

Re: Powstro (sonoff)

If tasmota is loaded and is working okay using your existing setup then I doubt the flashing setup or power is the issue. The power requirements of espeasy post flashing (before fully configuring in the web browser) shouldn't be much different than a new tasmota install (from what I recall, both jus...

Re: ESP Easy Flasher

Thanks for working on it, I know it's early and my intent was to be helpful. The board I was testing it on is listed as a known supported ESPEasy board on www.letscontrolit.com/wiki/index.php/ESP_Hardware. It is a recently purchased Sonoff basic. None of the Sonoff devices support nodemcu style cont...

Re: Powstro (sonoff)

I suggest watching the serial port during boot and see what it says. In my case it showed that the checksum did not match, that clued me in to it being a corrupted write as opposed to some issue with the binary itself. The default baud rate is slower than people typically use. I just used the arduin...

Re: ESP Easy Flasher

I did some testing with version 00.021 (Win 10 64bit) and wanted to give some feedback. I really like the idea of being able to configure as many settings as possible during the initial flash and haven’t seen that attempted before in other flash utilities or wrappers. Hopefully this software can be ...

Re: sonoff s20 i2c question

If you need to flash over serial again, it's not a problem. Just disconnect whatever sensor(s) you have on the tx/rx pins and flash away using the same procedure you did originally. For i2c, you simply go to the hardware page and map scl and sda to GPIO-1 (TX) and GPIO-3 (RX) with the drop down sele...

Re: advice on very remote monitoring

The power requirements for a 2G phone and esp are fairly minimal, certainly not anything that will require a huge solar array. He will spend more on the batteries in the long run than on the solar panel, as the batteries will need to be replaced more often. A 100watt 12v panel can be purchased for $...

Re: Wemos d1 BME280

You might take look at mqttwarn which has a plug-in called gss (and one called gss2) that is supposed to write mqtt data into a google sheet.

Re: sonoff s20 i2c question

The only holes for header pins are vcc/tx/rx/gnd. You could reconfigure the TX (GPIO-1) and RX (GPIO-3) in esp easy for other functions after disabling the serial port from the advanced menu. My understanding is you can use GPIO-1 and GPIO-3 for SCL and SDA with i2c, but I haven't tried it. Similarl...

Re: New ESP gadget

re: Sonoff Dual The protocol to the secondary Silabs C8051F330 MCU is simple and wouldn't be hard to implement, but would require a plug in. Since the interface between the two MCUs uses the serial port, any other use would have to be disabled. This is unfortunate as the serial port logging function...

Re: sonoff dual flashing the ESP

The Sonoff dual has some differences from most other sonoff devices. The one you are likely running into is the button . On most sonoff devices, the button is attached to GPIO0 making it very easy to put it in flash mode (just power up while pressing the button). Unfortunately on the sonoff dual, th...
