There might be one, but it is a bit tricky and not without risk.

The level plugin can be used to store its settings to flash.
It is still on my todo list as that's wearing out the flash.
But if you write to the flash once a day, then I guess you could get away with it.

I think the timeout for MQTT is 10 sec in ESPEasy, which is based on the default setting of Mosquitto of 15 sec. Re: OH-MQTT connection lost / Alive Timeout

There is a lot of communication between the ESP and the MQTT broker. So the MQTT client (the ESP) does notice it is disconnected quite fast. Often even before I see the WiFi disconnected event. If the ESP does not react to a ping, then your ESP does experience network issues at that moment, which ca...

I guess the ESP32 does need some extra attention then regarding RTC.
Like I said it was only added recently for ESP32 and it really is hard to tell based on the reboot flags set in RTC why it rebooted.
I do check if the stored data is valid, so it will not load random data into the taskvalues.

Do you test this on ESP8266 or ESP32? I've seen that most ESP32 boards perform a reset by toggling the ESP_EN pin. Please be aware that GPIO-0 does already have a pull-up resistor on the ESP board (or else the ESP would not boot if GPIO-0 is pulled to GND)
So that being said, it is a bad idea to use GPIO-0 for signaling a state that can remain in that state for a while.

As long as the ESP remains powered, you can store the values in a dummy task. Task values are stored in RTC memory which is kept during a reboot and restored at boot.
