Cannot update any of my modules past mega-20190215
No matter what I do I cannot get past the mega-20190215 on all of my SONOFF (basic) modules (resoldered 4MB). When I upgrade FOR EXAMPLE TO mega-20190630 the SONOFFs using either OTA or FLASH(usb) I can see the modules starting as I have a rule on System#Boot do Event lamp_on delay 1000ms Event lamp...

Re: How come different sketch sizes for same hardware
Differences I see in your output is DIO vs. DOUT. And the reported chip size is 4M, so I guess it is a Sonoff POW or POW-r2? Most Sonoff ones have 1M chip and some use ESP8266 or ESP8285. (different chip) I thought we were building for the slowest of both DIO/DOUT (have to check which one is the sl...

Re: How come different sketch sizes for same hardware
sorry for the later reply, I am on the other side of the planet.
No, it has four.
I bought a bunch of 4MB and replaced them on all of my boards.

How come different sketch sizes for same hardware
Hi I am trying to update all of my Sonoff devices, I bought all of them a couple of years ago. All but ONE I was able to update. Most of them have this: Flash Chip ID: Vendor: 0xEF Device: 0x4016 Flash Chip Real Size: 4096 kB Flash IDE Size: 4096 kB Flash IDE speed: 40 MHz Flash IDE mode: DIO Sketch...

Re: Disable/enable Devices via commands?
Ok, and I thought I could finally make my point as in "It would be a good idae to have this feature - as in being able to control devices (turn on/off) using http commands ...."grovkillen wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 05:52 Budman was referring to my comment about the forum engine being old.

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
Did you experience strange wifi-related issues like these since the last 2 updates? I stopped using the latest builds after the 20180320 as the 20180316 worked for me (as it was suggested to use). I am getting a bunch of new sonoffs, also I need to flash two other sonoffs (also putting some extra p...

Re: Disable/enable Devices via commands?
Have you tried to find anything in the ESP forum?? Sheeeeeesh! Yes and no - the question was related to the mega stuff ... as I am running a mega version and I was not sure whether a particualr feature is implemented. Also I was going the way @Oxyandy in this thread was going ... suggesting ...

There should be a "thumbs up" in this forum like in other forums (e.g. github).

Disable/enable Devices via commands?
Hi Is there a way that I could enable or disable devices via commands? For example, I have a few sonoffs that have a motion sensor attached, those motion sensors are attached to some outside lights. During the day it is pretty useless to have thoses devices (switches) "enabled". I thought ...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
[snip] Some accesspoints have a (hard) limit on the number of connected devices. Could it be you're hitting some kind of limit like 32 simultaneous connected devices? Then even valid settings will not lead to a connection and thus it will enter the accesspoint/setup mode. I have a Netgear Nighthawk...

[snip] N.B. this can also happen during normal use, for example when the configured accesspoint is unreachable long enough for the number of retries exceeded. If a connection can be made, the internal accesspoint will be disabled after 30 or 60 seconds (not sure). I get that ... What I was writing ...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
I figured something else. Due to the usage of SPIFFS and storing the data (including the wifi credentials and/or previous ipaddress) there are some inconsistencies when re-flashing and NOT having minicom/putty open to see the output during boot. On a number of occasions I was waiting for the configu...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
At 10 feet, mine connects and disconnects randomly. [snip] 3m? There is something else going on ... the sonoffs are much better than that! Not sure how good your knowledge is about WIFI, also not sure what your router is - mine is R7000 running latest ddwrt, these two combined really help network p...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
@jobst Is that more about flashing issues or about the WiFi issues? I think I nailed the problem now, for the initial setup it is set to 20 seconds, since then the accesspoint feature is still active, which may cause some delays in initial connection. IMHO it's both. I cannot get it to flash on a W...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
I had some luck. After many attempts to get any of the later releases to work (2.XXX and mega.XXX) I used the mega-20180316 and it is indeed running: Firmware Build 20100 - Mega (core 2_3_0) GIT version mega-20180316 Plugins 48 [Normal] Build Md5 f1c9d0659ee99bd5a61f63cffccb1d9 Md5 check passed. Is there a way to debug this .. i.e. use minicom to connect to /dev/ttyUSB0 to have some output during boot or connection to WIFI?
At least that way I can be of some help ....

No luck for me, whatever "things" I use: - Release mega-20180320 - Release mega-20180319 - Release v2.0-20180319 - used linux and esptool.py with various files: dev, test, normal - used windows and flashtool.exe using various bin files: dev, test, normal It never gets passed "the loop&quo...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
Edit: I just noticed the file you used: ESP_Easy_v2.0-20180319_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin That's never going to work on a Sonoff. Those have 1 MB of flash, not 4 MB. I explained in my initial post (and in reply to @Vestus) ALL off my Sonoff are 4MB - the entire point I am lazy ... I prefer to do OTA's...

Re: Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
To add a data point, I'm having similar luck with the 3-19 dev builds on a sonoff basic. ESP_Easy_mega-20180319_normal_ESP8266_1024.bin works without issue. Upgrading from that to 3-19-mega-dev-1024 and wifi will never connect. 2.0 dev also won't connect. I will try that release candidate as well t...

Wifi Wizard Setup Loop
Hi I have many Sonoff Basic which happily run ESPEasy R120, no problems at all (they all have 4M) flashing and running. I thought I try one of the switches with one of the latest builds ESP_Easy_v2.0-20180319_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin to see what is new, what is better and also see whether I can use s...
