[Solved] Trying to use MQTT to control a servo
I'm trying to use MQTT (from Node-RED) to control a servo - not working. The topic in the MQTT-Out node in NR is.... node68/servo/1/14 with a msg.payload of 120 The on-board blue LEDon the Wemos flashes to indicate a transfer has taken place, just seems the command is not understood. However, if I u...

Re: Analog soil sensor
I use the formula (1024-%value%)/100 in my soil monitor.
Here's a link to the tutorial guide.

On my set-up I'm using a small-signal transistor to switch the +3V3 rail on/off to the soil sensor (to reduce the effects of corrosion).

All my nodes (Wemos D1 Minis) have fixed IPs.

First of all - you can't use two normal 5mm LEDs in series (driven from the Wemos +3.3V line) as the forward voltage drop across each LED is approx 1.8V. The ESP8266 and Wemos D1 Mini are +3V3 devices - so please don't connect +5V to them. You can use a transistor to buffer the ESP8266 to the 5V LEDs or even a relay or a level shifter. Small single LEDs normally run off of 1.6V, so you could think about having two in series with a suitable current li...

If you plan to use the external antenna (to get an increased WiFi range) then you will need to move the 0-ohm resistor (not an easy task as I found to my cost!!).

Yes - I would use a 330uF or 470uF with a 0.1uF (or 100nF) in parallel.
The large capacitor acts as smoothing capacitor whilst the small one should deal with any nasty spikes on the PSU rail.
Hope this helps.
