to 0.x
So could send a mail

I experienced that the esp is not always able to connect to the Router
How can I define a rule to send a message/ or switch an GPIO do show if network connect - STA Mode is running?
Or send a mail, MQTT when esp is falling back to AP Mode

It may be possible, but in my experience the performance of both AP and STA on the ESP8266 is just horrible. ESP32 does feel a lot quicker when AP and STA mode are active. My suggestion would be to look at the ESP32 for such. Don't forget to set the packet forwarding, e.g. "router" mode. ...

What if you leave out the condition in the on statement? And what firmware do you use? Rules are not easily tested indeed, you might change the loglevel to see if it shows more info. connecting SR04 straight to the esp8266.
not via level converter.
Any experience with that ?
