Arduino Mega requirement

#1 Post by Stuntteam » 09 Feb 2016, 17:35

To run the RFLink firmware you need an Arduino Mega board!
We have selected this specicif board for various reasons. Like memory size and processing power, future extension plans etc.

Technically it would be possible to strip the code, leave out a lot of the plugins and put that on a smaller Arduino board.
However, the price difference is very small. Also the additional testing and support questions would bring extra presure on the project.
Additionally it would not give a proper experience of the complete product.
Further more we want, at some point in time, firmware update support within the home automation softwares that support RFLink (Jeedom even already has it). Having multiple different boards would also complicate this process.
Due to those reasons and some we did not even mention, you really need an Arduino Mega.
