Old LCD with ESP ?

#1 Post by sawo » 21 Apr 2020, 14:13

Hi all,

do you think it is possible to use an old lcd display from an thermometer, such as this one (see attachment) to controll it via an esp?
I want to show the temperatur from the aquarium.

Regards
Sascha

Not sure this belongs in the experimental forum, hardware seems more appropriate, but we'll see if a moderator moves it ;)

Do you have any info on the lcd controller and possibly other ic's that are used? It is rather hard to find anything without that kind of information...

Those thermometers often have a single chip, which is not accessible as its silicon is mounted directly on the PCB and has a blob poured over it.
So then you have to find out the lines of the LCD to what 'pixel' and make your own controller.
If you can do that, integrating it with ESPEasy is the least of your problems :)

Hi TD-er,

okay I'll take it apart and see what's in it.
