wemos battery and deep sleep questions

#1 Post by bobbybeans » 27 Apr 2018, 17:12

so I am a bit confused on a few things. So I have wemos d1 mini with a battery and DHT22 shield on them. it is connected to a 18650. Works great however the battery dies quickly. Obviously because it takes a ton of power because its constantly awake.
I was going to put it into deep sleep mode with ESP easy on it. I see on the firmware it has deep sleep on the config page. If I set GPIO 16 to reset and enable deep sleep. Does it wake itself up automatically? from the link i found here i think the answer is YES but I want to make 100% sure on that

also here i found that if you remove the red led it takes up even less power. has anybody done this? does it work well?

I also was wondering about monitoring the battery/the wemos battery shield. my project will be attached to a battery wemos shield and from what I read it takes the input of the battery and boosts it up to 5. It gives that 5v to the wemos and it converts it back down to 3.3. Anyway to get around that?

Edit: found a website that states the nomial charging voltage - https://wiki.wemos.cc/products:retired: ... eld_v1.1.0 - ha this website doesn't support strikethrough?
[s]Also I coudln't find anywhere that it says it has battery protection voltage? does it have low voltage protection? I can see that it has high voltage protection because it knows when to stop charging and give the green light saying its fully charges. I also checked it and it stops at 4.2 volts and holds it there not continuing to charge it. [/s]

Also found this article https://arduinodiy.wordpress.com/2016/1 ... hingspeak/
i want to measure the battery voltage. Has anybody done this? if so have you been succesful? wouldn't this in effect waste more battery? because the resistor is continually burning off energy whether the wemos is on or off? correct?

Sorry so many questions but hopefully there is someone/s there to answer!
