#1 Post by moelski » 31 Aug 2016, 07:31

Hi !

Just wan´t to know (as last question for today :) ) if you plan to support the latest Arduino IDE as well.
I think it would avoid some trouble for beginners

Just answer the question by myself ...

Latest IDE is possible. How to deal with it is described here:

I am not a member of the ESPEasy developing team but my opinion on this is that it is not to the ESPEasy team to follow every update of the Arduino IDE. I do not believe they are connected in any way to the arduino team so the ESPEasy team has no say in the developing of the IDE.
The ESPEasy team can better put their effort in just the ESPEasy software and do not care much about the new trends in the arduino IDE.

For me IDE 1.6.11 does not compile at all despite using the right libraries and the right ESP core.
It generates instantly this error message :

Board generic (platform esp8266, package esp8266) is unknown
Error compiling for board Generic ESP8266 Module.

Arduino IDE 1.6.5. is working fine for me and it is up to the effort of experimenting forum members to debug the new Arduino IDE i.c.w. ESPEasy.
So a beginner in ESPEasy who is not capable of installing an older Arduino IDE version on a P.C. will probably also never succeed in installing the firmware on the ESP
