Feature Wish: GPIO before read sensor

#1 Post by sm0k0 » 04 Oct 2016, 10:26

Hi,
maybe im just blind but where can i request "wish" a feature ?
Would be great if you can add that to the feature wishlist or if you have an suggestion how to get that sorted.

Pre-Measurement Condition
#****
pull GPIO --> wait configurable delay (ms) --> initiate measurement eg. temp sensor if prior GPIO has been pulled --> once measured, switch of GPIO and go to DS
#****
tried it with rules but without success ...

The idea is from one of my first SI7021 sensors i used DeepSleep with LUA (nodemcu) and battery power. While the ESP is brought to sleep, the sensors remain in idle mode connected to VCC and still seeking battery power. I use a GPIO to control power of the sensor before measurement taking the Tpu (~90ms at low power input on an SI7021) in account.
Same i did with a DS18B20 where Tpu had to be higher becasue of a complete BusCycle (~850ms).
Even the complete time sequence of reading/sending the values was extendet, power consumption was ~ 8-9% less than an identical device using same LUA script but without that hack.

many thanks
Heiko
