EspEasy, Wiegang 26 RFIC/NFC reader

#1 Post by ensingg » 26 Jul 2017, 21:35

Hi,

My idea was to use a Wiegang 26 reader (https://www.nodo-shop.nl/nl/sensoren/70 ... 25khz.html)
connected to my Wemos Mini and EspEasy v2.
I created a device in EspEasy and choose for the RFID Wiegand 26.
What I hoped for was Events in the log with a tagid.

I think I needed to use a Level Changer, so I did.

12V + --------------- RED
12V - --------------- BLACK

ESP8266

D3 <-----------------? HV1 - LV1 -------- GREEN
D4 ------------------- HV2 - LV2 -------- WHITE

Using a Level Shifter was the first time for me. So hopefully I connected it right.

Level Shifter

HV1 HV2 HV GND HV3 HV4
LV1 LV2 LV GND LV3 LV4

+3.3V on LV
-3.3V on GND LV

+5V on HV
-5V on GND HV

But whatever I do no events in espeasy. What am I doing wrong?

Or is this reader not able to read my NFC of my Samsung Phone and the NFC in my ING pass. These are the only things I tested the detection with.

ESP8266

D3 <-----------------? HV1 - LV1 -------- GREEN
D4 ------------------- HV2 - LV2 -------- WHITE
Connection error or typo?
All ESP connections must be on the LV side.
All Wiegang connections on the HV side.

Connected the wrong way, 5V on the ESP, can have damaged the ports D3 and D4.
Check them with a simple push button circuit.
30+ ESP units for production and test. Ranging from control of heating equipment, flow sensing, floor temp sensing, energy calculation, floor thermostat, water usage, to an interactive "fun box" for my grandson. Mainly Wemos D1.

Sorry, TYPO.

Of course the LV connections are on the Wemos ESP side.
I ordered some RFID tags. I only checked it with by bankpas with NFC and my Samsung Phone with NFC.
The more I read, the more I question the fact if the NFC's of these things can/will be recognized.

Some points to "hook up" with:

- Does the reader beep / light if you place your bank card of phone on the reader?
If not, it most likely does not read them as these readers usually have LED's and/or a buzzer inside.

- Are you sure your card / phone use 125KHz and not 13 MHz?

- Are you sure your card / phone use same coding?

Just as suggestion where to go...

Searching through the internet results in information that the NFC chip of my Samsung S7 cannot be read that easily with simple readers.
This is probably the case for my bankcard too. Today I will receive the normal RFID tags. So I will try to see if my setup is reading those things.
