Please help with intial boot of ESP201
Hello folks,
I cannot get the ESP201 to boot after a successful upload of ESPEasy. I've tried both R039 and R048.
To load the firmware, I'm using an external power source to power the ESP with:
>> 3.3v connected to 3.3 and CH_PD
>> GND to GND, GPIO0, and GPIO15
>> Using a 5v serial adapter via bi-directional logic converter
To run, I'm using an external power source to power the ESP with:
>> 3.3v connected to 3.3 and CH_PD
>> GND to GND and GPIO15
Is my wiring wrong?
How do you recommend I troubleshoot?

Your setup looks OK.
After upload what does the serial monitor show after a reboot?
What is amp rating of the power supply?

Your setup looks ok, i use the exact same module and setup for testing and it works fine.
You really should check the output of the module in serial monitor, you should expect something like:
INIT : Booting Build nr:39
WIFI : Connecting...
INIT : I2C
INIT : Boot OK
INIT : RTC not read
If it does boot, but you can't get a signal, be aware that you need to attache an antenna to the U.FL connector as the onboard "inverted F" antenna is not connected.
If you want to use that you have to reposition a resistor.
Also some boards could have a shorted U.FL antenna.
See http://smarpl.com/content/esp8266-esp-2 ... leshooting for more info on both the resistor and the connector.

Thanks for the warning. Also some boards could have a shorted U.FL antenna.
2 boards here with this problem

I decided to bite the bullet and order a ESP8266 Serial Wireless Wifi Module Develop Board 8266 SDK Development off Ebay. ~$15 isn't a bad price. I'll follow up with how well it works out. Fingers crossed.

2,1 amps is enough
What does the serial monitor reports?
