ESPEasy + Home Assistant- Help Please

#1 Post by scarecrow2k6 » 27 Apr 2018, 02:27

Hello everyone. I used ESPEasy and Domoticz last year and was very successful with the result. At that time, I used HTTP and not MQTT as it was too confusing for me. I was wondering if someone could point me to the direction of how to use ESPEasy with Home Assistant with MQTT protocol. I searched everyone but there is nothing as far as the combo of that two. Many people mentioned that they used HA with ESPEasy using MQTT but I just can't find any MQTT from HA to start with. Even though I quite successfully used ESPEasy and Domoticz with virtual switches, I can't figure out how to do that with HA. Thanks.

The Home-Assistant docs are a great place to start : https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/mqtt/

Exactly which route to follow to get up & running depends a little bit on which type of Home-Assistant installation you have ? Hass.io? Raspberry Pi? ... ?

Hi Tommmii, thanks for your reply. I have installed Home Assistant on Raspberry Pi, DietPi to be specific.

never heard of dietpi, but nevermind.

You would need the mosquitto broker for MQTT, whatever you do - do not opt for the Home-Assistant built-in MQTT broker, it isn't really ready yet.
I would : http://blog.rniemand.com/installing-mos ... -raspbian/
