NeopixlBusFX Espeasy32

#1 Post by rieders » 11 Jun 2018, 10:39

Hello

I tried to implement the plugin NeopixlBusFX into an up-to-date version of Mega ESPEASY.
Unfortunately, I always get error messages when building ATOM.
I currently have an ESP32 with 20100 version running.
Unfortunately, the module Candle does not work there.
I have tried several Gpio but have not had success.

On the internet, I found another version of NeopixlBusFX for ESP3266.
This seems but wrong because some parts in the WEBGUI missing.
When running only Neopixl gets the ESP 100% utilization.

Maybe someone could create a build with NeopixelBusFX for the ESP32.

Best regards

It looks like this library has had some (very recent) updates to support ESP32: https://github.com/Makuna/NeoPixelBus

At this moment, I2C support on ESP32 is very very flaky. This one looks like it is using I2S, which I have no experience with.
Since I do not know why I2C is so buggy on ESP32, it is hard to say for me if I2S is any better.
The current support for ESP32 is to be considered "alpha" at best. It will (probably) not burn your house down, but I would not use it for tasks that need to run for days.
For example there is a pretty hefty memory leak and some other unpleasant issues.

So if you get it to work, please let me know what is needed, or create a pull request for it :)

Hello

Thanks for the information regarding the ESP32 and the WS2812.
It seems like the ESP32 is "too new" for ESPeasy.
I have already created a version with Candle.
Unfortunately, then no LED speaks.
In the new version, there is also a possibility of GPS coordinates to enter similar to Tasmota.
Since I want to run my aquarium over the ESPeasy I try it further.
Unfortunately 12 devices are too few.
6 relays
2 temperature sensors
PH measurement
water conductivity
OLED display
That works.
WS2812-Sripe
PWM - LED control is not working yet.

If I can realize that synonymous with an ESP8266 I would take synonymous.

Greetings Andre
