Let me know also if you experience strange switching on the Sonoff's (there has been a single report for it on Github) with the more recent builds (have no idea yet what may be happening)

Another day passes with no unexpected reboots.

@TD-er. I haven't seen anything unusual happening with regard to switching on the Sonoff S20 devices.

Will report back.

Thanks for the interest in ESP Easy, be sure - we're working our butts off to release it. And it's really close now, just want to have some further tests done.

What we do not want is to release something calling it stable and have a bunch of bugs right off the bat.

I'd agree with that.

I said I'd report back, and the good news is that the d1 minis plus modified Sonoff S20's continue to function without any issues even surviving some short WiFi
outages here at roadsnail manor!

In summary:-

3 off esp8266 d1 mini clones, 2 with ds18b20's attached and 1 with BME280, PIR detector and SSD1306 OLED attached
all reporting uptime and running various rules connected by WiFi to RPi running domoticz.
These are running binary file ESP_Easy_mega-20191028_normal_core_260_sdk222_alpha_ESP8266_4M1M
built with ESP82xx Core 2.6.0-dev stage, NONOS SDK 2.2.2-dev(38a443e), LWIP: 2.1.2 PUYA support system libraries.
UPTIMES: 33 days 21 hours 25 minutes
34 days 14 hours 15 minutes
7 days 18 hours 58 minutes -note this device had previously been up for 27 days before I accidentally powered it off :(

3 off Sonoff S20's modified with ds18b20 temperature sensor also reporting uptime to domoticz and running various rules.
These are running a slightly newer binary ESP_Easy_mega-20191123_normal_ESP8266_1M.bin
built with ESP82xx Core 2_6_1, NONOS SDK 2.2.2-dev(38a443e), LWIP: 2.1.2 PUYA support system libraries.
These have been particularly problematical in the past, rarely surviving more than 2 or 3 days without a watchdog reboot.
However, even given my WiFi instability over the last couple of days, they have been running without a glitch for
7 days 15 hours 27 minutes
7 days 15 hours 18 minutes
7 days 17 hours 59 minutes

@Rampler, how are your devices doing? I seem to recall your devices are running with similar libraries?

Hopefully we will not suffer any power outages allowing me to leave these 6 devices running as long as possible,
but I am delighted NOT to receive frequent random reboot emails from my domoticz controller for the last week!

I look forward to a formal stable release in the near future and hope that this along with the revamped Website I am reading about
from grovkillen will be a success. I also hope that other users will support the good work by supporting grovkillen and TD-er
through Patreon or other methods.

I have been watching this thread with great interest for a few months. I have a dozen of the Shelly 1 wireless relays embedded behind light switches with another two dozen light switches needing upgrading. However, the reboots were causing issues in my children's room with the lights mis-behaving badly at times. In particular my child's closet light would reboot between 11m to 120m light clockwork. Extremely annoying and holding me back from upgrading the rest of the house.

Finally, I updated the closet Shelly with the 20191208 release build (ESP_Easy_mega-20191208_hard_Shelly_1_2M256.bin). I'm still giving it time, but I'm optimistic about this new buld based on the 2.6.2 core. This Shelly has been up now for "2 days 9 hours 40 minutes", probably a record in this house. I'm updating the rest of the Shelly's and will monitor them and provide feedback here.

P.S. Thank you for resuming the hardware specific builds in the releases, such as for the Shelly 1. It saves me a lot of time!

Glad to hear your setup is also working more stable.

There is one "sad" thing about these stability improvements.
In 2 weeks time, I have to move to another house and then I have to power down my nodes too.
About 3 of them are past the 80 days uptime now, so they will not make it to the 100 days :(

Just to generate some kind of hope:

My battery monitoring devices (four devices Wemos D1 china clone) have been pretty unstable with releases > 2018-05-22. For testing purpose four weeks ago I have upgraded one device to release mega-20191123 with the following result up to now:
27.12.01.JPG
27.12.01.JPG (17.99 KiB) Viewed 14479 times
Used release:
27.12.02.JPG
27.12.02.JPG (37.7 KiB) Viewed 14479 times
Survived reconnects:
27.12.03.JPG
27.12.03.JPG (14.79 KiB) Viewed 14479 times
Previous and actual stability (reported uptime in mins to Domoticz):
27.12.04.JPG
27.12.04.JPG (46.91 KiB) Viewed 14479 times
Wifi config: AP (Fritz Box) fixed channel 9 and fixed to 802.11 b/g, used fixed IP for devices, advanced Wifi settings:
27.12.05.JPG

So for me this device reached a new uptime record....

Hi Team,

Great to see that we have a stable system.
Now that the esp isn't rebooting i see there is a minor issue with presentation of the Wifi connected timer...
It doesn't seem to go past 21 day's, when it is supposed to go to 22 days it looks like it goes back to 20 days...
Here some screenshots.
Just for the statistics it would be nice to have it working ok. :-)

Have a great year end!!

Yep there is a bug when the connected time exceeds 2^31 msec.

Hello there, How can we update the unit from Wifi? 'OTA not possible' and no load button available. My unit is 9000Km from home so I'm trying to find a way via wifi.

Thanks!

Hi All,
Im just checking back into the forum after a while away and it looks like some roads have been built to a stable version. Im doing my own builds using Arduino can i ask for advice on which core version and other Arduino settings to use. Im planning on using mega_20191208 source code for my builds.

TIA
Ray

The more stable builds are with core 2.6.1
But I noticed some issues here in my own network when the controller (MQTT controller) is unreachable.
Also if for some reason DHCP requests (or UDP traffic) is taking too long to get answered, the unit will reboot.

So that's one thing I'm working on right now.

About upgrading the 9000 km away node...
At first I'm not sure if it is wise to OTA a unit that's that far away anyway.
I've had issues OTA'ing some units on a flaky WiFi and the unit may reboot into "copy the new sketch" mode and never come back from it without hardware reboot.
After such a reboot the update was not performed so the old image booted.
If you have trouble updating via OTA anyway, then it means you have a 1M node, so that's always quite hard to update OTA.

Ok Thanks for your reply TD-er. Because of the hardware reboots, the SONOFF is useless anyway. Buying another one with the new firmware and sending it to the location may be the only way. So this is why I was asking for a way to try the OTA update anyway.

Well the software refuses to start an upload if it is too big to fit any known 2-step flasher anyway.
So even if we would be able to make an intermediate version that's smaller, then that particular unit could not be flashed anyway via OTA update.
