DST Information

Could I please get a link for how the DST setting work? I don't quite understand all the things that are being asked. I'm trying to get my clock to work for EST time and I'm not sure what all the week settings are for. I've been searching the Wiki for this as well as this forum but not having much luck. That's making me feel like I must be missing something pretty obvious if everyone else understands these setting but me

This screenshot shows PST timezone. It observes UTC- 8 hours (-480 mins). Because the DST box is checked the time zone offset is automatically corrected to -7 hours during daylight savings time.

Made the change and the attachment works for EST. I'm guessing the start and end stuff has to do with setting when Day Light Savings Time starts and ends in your area and the start time and end time off set?
