Hello - I have one of the Eco Plugs that were popular awhile back. I'm running (I think R147 - but I'm honestly not sure how to tell, I flashed it over a year ago). I'm trying to upgrade the firmware and I'd REALLY prefer not to crack the case back open because it was a pain in the rear.
I navigated to the firmware update page and I've tried a few different files, but no success.
Just for kicks, I tried:
* ESPEasy_R147_512.bin
* ESPEasy_R147_1024.bin
then
* ESPEastUploaderMega_1024.bin (the 277 kb file)
even tried a ESPHome .bin file just to see.
Each time, I get "Update Failed!" Is there a secret I'm missing? Thanks

Re: need help with OTA update
The "main" page when you connect to it should tell you which version, in the build line.
It looks like an ESP-01, I do not remember when but at one point they no linger could do OTA because the firmware was too big. It looks like that happened at 120.
Out of curiosity, why are you trying to upgrade?
If you need to upgrade, you likely will have to open it up, and may have to do a custom build with only the things you need. I did that for for the ESP-8285 a while back, but that was on the Arduino IDE not the new one. I have not been able to get the new one to work correctly. I got it to work for a day or 2 then it (IDE) got very buggy and I had to put is away for a while, too frustrating.

Re: need help with OTA update
Sure enough. 147.
Switching to ESPHome bc I use Home Assistant and I've been using it with other projects - it just integrates soooo nicely.
Just wish there was a way to flash it to a super tiny build that can only create an ad-hoc and accept a larger firmware.

R147 is over two years old. Please try our nightly releases. In a not too distant future we'll release the official 2.1.0 version.
