Asking for TCA9548A support

#1 Post by Sasch600xt » 09 Mar 2020, 15:14

Hello World,

may i ask there are any plans to suppot the amazing TCA9548A i2C Multiplexer ?
This would be great :)

for having up to 8 I2C busses for multiple sensors with fixed I2C adress.
in theory you could handle up to 8 of those TCA9548A, so you could end up with 64 I2C busses :)

Thank you and have a great day !

Not yet planned.

On the other hand, for the other very limiting number of UART ports, a very nice new feature is being developed as we speak :) (have it already running here)

Hello, now I'm dealing with the same problem, I'd like to use multiple I2C devices with the same address connected in one ESP. Is there any news about support of this expander?
I'm doing a small hobby project, something like humidor (only not for cigars, but for ripening of puerh type teas, it's hard to explain it shortly..) and I need to control and log humidity values from this enviroment.

For my purpose could be the best sensors SHT31/35, but I need four or five of them. And they have the same address.. I can solve this with simple system of four connected sensors, one ESP and OLED display and have all sensors connected over small button keyboard (and read only one value on display if button is pressed and it connects a specific sensor), but in this case I can't log these values (mqtt+rasppi+influxdb+grafana). And I don't want to use for each sensor separate ESP ..
Another solution is also a little bit complicated, to use relay board, powering sensors (VCC) periodically using relays outputs (and read values from them in this moment), but it's also not any 'clean' solution.

So TCA9548A support for espeasy could solve this problem, I suppose. So do you plan any support for this expander? Thanks for info! :]
Please excuse my English, thanks!
