sonoff 4ch pro OTA

#1 Post by BertB » 01 Jun 2020, 17:09

I would like to use a rev2 sonoff 4ch pro in a live situation, where it is very difficult to do regular updates.
Is it possible to use OTA for this device as well?

As far as I know, this one only has 1M flash.
If so, then you need to use some minimal OTA update, like on other 1M modules.

If these Sonoff units currently have a larger flash, then it would make updating a lot easier.

Well, it has the following characteristics:

SPIFFS Size: 110 kB (27 kB free)
Page size: 256
Block size: 4096
Number of blocks: 27

Maximum path length: 32
I just flashed the latest 1 mb 8285 firmware:

Can you help me understand how the two step OTA works?

In the downloaded ZIP file there is a small 2-step OTA bin file included (roughly 280k in size)
On the "minimal OTA" builds, you should be able to flash this small file.
It reads the existing settings to connect to WiFi and starts the webserver to allow loading a new "minimal OTA" bin file.
