I have installed a VEML6070 sensor. It works well, I can transfer any of the three parameters from ESPeasy to my domotics. But, I do not understand what these parameters mean. How can I find out the ultraviolet index? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraviolet_index
How to set the switch "Refresh Time Determination" correctly? I even looked at the source code of the plugin, but I didn't understand anything.

Re: VEML6070
The plugin itself has this mentioned in the comments about the "UV Risk" value:
Given the values, which correlate with the Wikipedia link you gave, I guess those are the same.
Also it looks like the sensor datasheet is also more elaborate than usual on this subject:

Code: Select all
// Definition of risk numbers
// 0.0 - 2.9 "Low" = sun->fun
// 3.0 - 5.9 "Mid" = sun->glases advised
// 6.0 - 7.9 "High" = sun->glases a must
// 8.0 - 10.9 "Danger" = sun->skin burns Level 1
// 11.0 - 12.9 "BurnL1/2" = sun->skin burns level 1..2
// 13.0 - 25.0 "BurnL3" = sun->skin burns with level 3

Re: VEML6070
My "risk" value is low (0.01-0.1). This is strange. And what about a switch "Refresh Time Determination"? It greatly affects the readings.

Re: VEML6070
I have not played with this sensor myself, so I cannot give a proper answer on that.
If your weather is a bit like it is here in the Netherlands, then I cannot imagine the UV risk will be any higher than very very low as it is grey and the sunlight doesn't have any power right now.

The sun shone a little during the day. The value went up to 0.5. Maybe you need to *10?
Andy.
Re: VEML6070
Maybe your metrology service does have a local weather station reporting the UV index so you can see what range to expect?

Re: VEML6070
A good idea! I looked: during the day, the index grew from 0 to 2.
I guess I'll have to take RAW and count according to this table.
