Power Regulation Question

#1 Post by Drum » 22 Mar 2016, 18:01

I was looking at the datasheet for the MCP1826 and I noticed the 5 pin version (MCP1826S) has a "Power good" pin, which appears could be tied to the CH-EN to turn the ESP on when the power is within 93% of 3.3V. Mouser lists them at the same price, so no disadvantage there.

Has anyone looked at this? I think it could be useful to improve overall accuracy, I think the readings can get wonky when the voltage gets too far below 3.3v. I think it would be better to have the ESP shut down rather than provide incorrect readings, and also not completely drain the batteries, if used. I am thinking of a solar powered setup and I think this would also protect the NiMH batteries with too many cloudy days in a row. ESP stays down until the sun is bright enough to charge the batteries to a useful level.
