ADS1115 recognized as PCF8591

ADS1115 recognized as PCF8591

Hi,

I bought some ADS1115 boards of aliexpress and connected them to the lolin nodemcu v3 (espeasy 78) using 10k pullups.

however in the i2c scan the board shows up as PCF8591.

if I use ADS1115 as device I get using a soil moisture sensor very strange readings (when wet 7000, when dry 17000, from time to time switching to -22000) if I use PCF8591 the value just stays at 255.

any ideas?

Very old post, but always good to ask.

I get a similar problem (see here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7364), do you have a solution ?

In 2016 that might have been what the i2c scanner reported. But ESPEasy's i2c scanner was updated and now reports both PCF8591 & ADS1115. {Because they share the same i2c address range}
