[SLOVED] issues on ESP12

#1 Post by Tjeerd » 23 Jul 2016, 23:37

Hello all,

Afther i have uses succesfully a few sonoffs whit an ESP inside i wanted to build something on my own so i bought some ESP12 F modules.
Afther a long struggle i managed to flash 2 of the (havent tryed the 3th yet), only i have a strange issue.

I have connected the following:
VCC ----> 5v (on 3.3 nothing happend...)
GND ----> Ground
CH_PD ----> HIGH (3.3V)
GPIO2 ----> HIGH (3.3V)
GPIO15 ----> LOW (GND)
GPIO0 ----> HIGH (3.3V) (flashed it whit GND
And i have still the RX and TX connected

As i wrote the flash went ok, and i briefly made contact whit the reset and the bleu led on the esp flashed so the ESP would restart and i wild get the accespoint to connect whit.

when the accespoint dint came up i set GPIO0 to 3.3v and i reconnected the power.
I do not see anything happen and i can not connect whit the serial connection.

does anyone have an idea of what im doing wrong? and could anyone help me to set up the accespoint?

ps. i flashed 108 1024MB in the ESP

Apparently is mandetory to have a pull up resistor.

I placed a 10k resistor beween v3 and gpoi0 and evrything started working.

its not stabel yet but i geass thats a power isseu

Hi Tjeerd,

Its good you got it working!

I am concerned about VCC=5v though. These parts are 3.3v only unless you are using somthing like a NodeMCU module that has an on board regulator.

Hello Dave,

Thanks for sharing your concerns.
I only installed the device and im not using it yet. I will messure the volt values this afthernoon to see how much v the 3.3v realy is and the same for the 5v.
I tought that its odd that it only worked on 5v (i have tested whit 3 diverent power supplies on 3) maybe my 5 to 3.3v stepdown isnt that good.

Regards,

Tjeerd

There was an extra GPIO pin connected to the 3.3v. that made the esp not come online on 3.3v. i removed the GPIO pin and now its working as it should be on 3.3v

Thanks again.
