Problem with DHT11

#1 Post by AtomicPapa » 19 Sep 2016, 15:59

I am running build 120 on a NodeMCU v1 with a DHT11 connected on GPO10 with a 10k resistor across pin 3 and GND. Every time I boot the device, I get an initial Temp and Hum reading from it and it shows up in MQTT as expected. However, it seems that when it goes back to update the readings, I get nan as a result. I do not have my device in a metal enclose of any type as I saw in another post. It is just all hooked up on a breadboard sitting on my desk. The log shows nothing unusual as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

you must put the resistor between the data_pin and Vcc, not between data_pin and GND.

Thanks for the info!! I see that now in the diagram. Not sure how I missed that before. Completely removed the resistor a couple of days ago and it's been up and running fine since. If I get a chance tomorrow, I may take it down and put in the resistor the correct way.
