In case someone has interest in this new i2c sensor, Bosch BME680 (Temperature, Humidity, Pressure and Gas)!

As I can see from it, it will be the BMP680 variant released too

So, maybe it is a good time to start working on the PLUG-IN library for ESP Easy!

I read about it as well but it's way too expensive... aroudn 25$ for a single module!!

Probably a matter of time. Once our Chinese friends ramp up their machines and start producing this unit, I'm sure the price will drop quickly...

yes price will drop but quality and accuracy as well
today BMP280/BME280 are not bad sensors but the accuracy of chinese units is close to terrible... same with DHTxx family.

Any significant differences between BME280 and BME680?
Same or compatible interface would be nice for implementation in ESPEasy etc.

Accuracy is a matter of perspective.
When you want to use a sensor for medical or military purposes, it is obvious that you need to get exactly the accuracy as specified in the requirements.
But equally true: when I want to use a temperature sensor to get a grip on the average temperatures in my garage, I really don't care if it is very accurate or not, but I would like it to be linear in the fault. As long as the sensor is plus or minus half a degree accurate, I am happy...

I could agree but when you have 5 sensors, same model, all reporting different readings with 5° difference or 20% diff in case of humidity i do care about accuracy!
I do not feel confortable to run multizone heating system with each zone differen readings and behavior!
