Good morning and hello to everyone, today I have seen on Aliexpress this new esp-01, and have wondered if anyone have already worked with it.

Is this extra memory useful for some applications

Hello.

These boards are widely spread under the name "ESP-01 S".

Please remember, that the RAM chip used (W25Q80) has 8 Mb (Megabit), not 8 Megabyte.
Use the 1024 binary for flashing.

Even some older ESP-01 were delivered with 1 MByte (8 Mbit) but that never
worked out well for me, i allways had to Flash a 512 binary. It looks like they use
a strange way to split the memory into two 512 KB blocks.

Anyways I have some ESP-01S running with 1 MByte,

Works without any issue for me.

lol crap, well i fell for that... i just got them in the mail. I totally did not even see that. I will be complaining , good strategy on marketing though
