LED PWM Dimmer for ESP-12E to Meanwell ELG-150-36B with PWM Dimming

#1 Post by robatbentley » 26 Mar 2017, 16:28

I'm trying to setup an LED dimmer solution for a 36V LED setup. I'd like to use both Domoticz and ESPEasy to configure and set the dimming. I have a Meanwell 150W DC power supply which outputs 36V (max 4A) and also includes PWM dimming wire connections (requires PWM at 10V DC 100-3kHz). I need to be able to power the ESP-12E from this 36V supply and have a XL4015 DC-DC step down adjustable power supply to cater for that. I've setup my ESP-12E as per instructions here (https://www.letscontrolit.com/wiki/index.php/Switch and https://www.letscontrolit.com/wiki/inde ... icz_Switch) but really don't know what to do next to produce a 10V DC variable PWM from the ESP-12E, or how to configure Domoticz. Before I get into too many details, I'd just like to know if this is a do'able project or whether I need to come at it from a different direction.

Once again, any help and guidance appreciated.

Update: My current thoughts are that to provide a 10V DC PWM input into the ELG-150-36B from a PWM controller (such as ESP-12E or Arduino producing PWM at 3.3V or 5V), then I'd need to use bi-directional logic level converters (LLC) which, of course, would require a 3.3V and 10V supply from the 36V DC supply using more of the DC-DC step-down units. ...assuming that these LLCs can run at 10V DC and upto 3Khz.
