ESP-201 pinnumbers to be used as GPIO and more info

#1 Post by Backbone » 21 Nov 2015, 10:44

Hi as newbie I use many ESP-201.

I found out by try and error that one port can not be used with ESP EASY > GPIO-9.
To prevent others to have spent time to find out, I like to dedicate this thread to this modul with it pros and cons running ESP EASY.

Here is the pinouts that sofar works for me to connect sensors.
Sending HTTP GPIO switch on and off commands need to tried too for all GPIO-pins.

Basic on/off
We can control the pin with simple http url commands. To change the pin to high or low steady output:
http://<ESP IP address>/control?cmd=GPIO,<pin>,0
http://<ESP IP address>/control?cmd=GPIO,<pin>,1

GPIO-04 and GPIO-05 are by standard reserved for I2C devices by ESP EASY.
If you are not using any I2C devices you can use both ports for other tasks.
Go to HARDWARE in ESP EASY and select the HARDWARE button.
For both ports click the down arrow and select the top BLANK option and submit.
Do this for both ports.

If there any remarks please let me know and I ammend the picture.
Red marks are the permenant connections to be made to make the modul run.
For flash only the GPIO-0 pin needs to be grounded to receive the flash.
After the flash the pin can be left floated or used as GPIO.

Added info from member pl0ink.
If you still have the USB to serial TX/RX programmer connected reboot the ESP and check the serial monitor.
You should expect something like:

INIT : Booting Build nr:48
WIFI : Connecting...
INIT : I2C
INIT : Boot OK
INIT : RTC not read

If it does boot, but you can't get a signal, be aware that you need to attach an antenna to the U.FL connector as the onboard "inverted F" antenna is not connected by standard. If you want to use that you have to reposition a small SMD resistor.
Also some boards could have a shorted U.FL antenna. More info can be found at this link.
See http://smarpl.com/content/esp8266-esp-2 ... leshooting
for more info on both the resistor and the connector.
