M-Bus water meter (like S0 output)

#1 Post by tuxmartin » 15 Mar 2018, 13:37

Hi,
Is there any way how to use the M-Bus module on water meter?

I'm using S0 counter in esp easy for kWh meter, but I cannot find M-Bus support.

M-Bus is standard for water meters.

For example:

Currently there is no support yet for Mbus.
We're working on Modbus support and I guess Mbus does also has it advantages, since some meters don't support both. (e.g. Eastron has some power meters which only do one or the other)

No, it is not Modbus, but M-Bus.

Great news!
When could it be done?

Please look at https://github.com/rscada/libmbus and https://openenergymonitor.org/forum-arc ... /1944.html (message "Submitted by TrystanLea on Fri, 29/05/2015 - 14:40").

I know the difference between M-bus and Modbus.
Mbod is more about querying registers on an addressed device.
M-bus is query a device and get a large array of bytes returned representing all values of that sensor.
Both allow to use a number of devices on the same line to be addressable, where M-bus does allow more devices on the same line if I remember correctly.
Not sure if the signal levels are comparable.

You could add an issue for it on Github.
I currently do not have M-bus devices, so I cannot test things and not sure about when I have the time for it, but maybe others do.
