Getting out of sleep mode

#1 Post by alabama » 18 Mar 2018, 19:27

Perhaps a stupid question:
in https://www.letscontrolit.com/wiki/index.php/SleepMode
is written:
Temporary disable Deep Sleep via jumper setting
If 30 seconds is too short for you, you can use this method.
Disconnect GPIO-16 from RST and connect it to GND. Restart your ESP if neccesary.
Now deep sleep will be disabled and your ESP will function normally, until you connect GPIO-16 to RST again.
This requires ESPEasy v2.0.0-dev6 or newer.
My question is:
a) Have I to connect GPIO to GND after disconnect from RST or
b) have I to connect RST to GND?
I understand the sentence like a) but think that b) must be correct.
In any case it seems to be an advantage to don't connect GPIO with RST fix to enable sleep mode but it's better to do this by something like a jumper, right?

Once again: Thanks for this great work in this project!

EDIT:
I think about use this for some ESP8266-01, so I have to do some soldering.

I have used it as answer A:
Disconnect GPIO-16 from RST and connect GPIO-16 to GND.

And doublechecked in the log:
SLEEP: Deep sleep cancelled (GPIO16 connected to GND)

So i guess that is the right usage.

And i am going to replace the wire between GPIO16 and RST with a real physical switch, on some of my battery powered devices.
So i can switch the "wireless" unit from deepsleep-mode to "stay on"-mode with the flick of a switch (switch connection of GPIO-16 between RST and GND with the switch).
Sometimes i want to check the device (or update it over wifi) and don't want to open them or anything. Just use the switch, and it keeps running.
Switch it back, and it's going to sleep.

Many thanks.

Exactly what I need to know.
