Sonoff Basic R3 additional flash on U6

#1 Post by iron » 03 Aug 2019, 11:29

Tasmota guy, arendst , posted the following :

"...As the ESP8285 uses DOUT SPI flash comms, GPIO9 (pin 18 = pin 7 of U6) and GPIO10 (pin 19 = pin 3 on U6) are available for user connections.
No other SPI signals can be used as they are connected to the internal flash...."

Meaning the U6 can be populated with flash and run the full size MEGA version of ESPEasy.

Anyone tried this yet ?

I have not tried it myself.
But if my memory serves me well, the Sonoff 4ch uses them to get the extra pins needed for 4 relais and 4 LEDs.

I wonder if it is just as simple as soldering on the chip...

From what I see in the PCB photo I would expect it to be that simple.
