#1 Post by M*I*B » 09 Nov 2019, 19:48

... don't know how to post this so be gentle with me if I'm wrong ...

Anybody know what kind of module this is? This is an cheap China RGBW-WLAN controller I use some since two years. One is broken so I open it and desolder the shield.

The Chip on top is an ...

Mediatek
MT 5931 SA

... and the bigger on bottom is a

MC101
MV silicon
CIX5BCLR
ARM

(cant's find any information)

The modul have 16 pins + antenna on top where 9 PIN's are connected (7 on right side, two on left)

(ups, forget the picture LOL)

http://mvsilicon.com/pro/qic.html shows what looks like their current products. (you might want Google site translate) Most appear to be audio related.

Not sure what that chip is, if the cover had anything on it that is probably a better clue. I am guessing a ARM processor but nothing on their site appears to be like it.
MVSilicon appears to be a small chip manufacturer in Shanghai. It could have been a chip manufactured under contract or an old produce which no longer appears on their site.

Anything interesting on the shield?

... no, unfortunately not. On the shield was just a sticker with the MAC address. In the meantime I have also unsoldered the module with hot air, but also on the bottom is absolutely nothing noted.

I assume it is a limited run custom module, probably no way to do much else with it. I expect you would have to contact MV to find out, and then how much effort do you want to put into something of very limited supply.

There are lots of really inexpensive modules (like ESPs) with extensive development support.
