powering an multisensor

Hi all

I want to make a multisensor. Like this https://www.letscontrolit.com/forum/vie ... f=2&t=6501.

Problem is that there is no permanent powersuply. Just an 230v light thats only on in the evenings/mornings (like a
normal light)

Would it be an idea to power it by battery and charge the battery by connecting the batterycharger to the light.

Then make a rule in openhab which says 'if batterypower is under blabla voltage turn on the light for 60 minutes' to charge the battery.

or do i take this the hard road ?

Well you may want to do some power requirement calculations first.
Also take weather conditions in mind, as some cells don't like it to be charged in freezing conditions.
Any cell has less power capacity in low temperature conditions too.

If you can let the unit sleep for most of the time, then the power requirements aren't that high.
But if it is on continuously, you may need quite a beefy setup like a 18650

They are not quite small, but very easy to use and quite cheap too.
You can charge them via USB, so that also fits your setup quite well.
But maybe the 90 mm PCB may be a bit too much for your setup?
