Lolin Motor 2.0 + D1 mini

#1 Post by Clem2105 » 21 Apr 2021, 10:33

Hello everybody!

I bought a Wemos D1 mini and a Motor Shield V2.0.0 (Lolin)
Aliexpress link: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32700182142.html

I flashed the Wemos with EspEasy, but in my I2C search I can't find any devices.
When I add a devices with the base address 0x30 nothing works.

With you ever had the problem?
And do you have a solution to solve the problem?

My shield is placed directly on the Wemos (Welded).

Thank you!

Hi,

A few questions:
- What .bin file did you install?
- What does the I2C scan say, a list with just an address, without a description, or that no I2C devices are found?
- Did you leave the I2C configuration on its default settings?
- Did you do the soldering yourself? Are all pins properly soldered, & checked with a multimeter?

I used this file: ESP_Easy_mega_20210223_normal_ESP8266_4M1M.bin

- What does the I2C scan say, a list with just an address, without a description, or that no I2C devices are found?
No I2C device is found

- Did you leave the I2C configuration on its default settings?
Yes I left everything by default

- Did you do the soldering yourself? Are all pins properly soldered, & checked with a multimeter?
Yes the welds are ok, I tested the GND, 3.3V, 5V and it's ok. For SDA AND SCL how to check them with a multimeter?

You could check if the GPIO pins involved are actually connected from 1 board to the other. Best to do that would be when the unit is not powered, and use the connection-test or ohms measurement of the meter (the low voltage used there is IMHO harmless).

Maybe also add either another I2C board to it to see if that one can be found and those boards often have internal pull-up resistors present.
If you have them laying around, try adding 2 resistors of 10k between:
- 3v3 and SDA
- 3v3 and SCL

Value is not that critical. Somewhere between 3k3 and 12k would work I guess.
Also double check to see which pins are set to be used for I2C in the ESPEasy configuration (Hardware tab in web config page of the ESP)

Thanks for your quick responses,

I checked all my welds and redone them, I had a fault in the connectors, there was a bad contact.

I think it's ok, I'm doing tests with an engine I'll keep you informed!
Thank you so much!
