ESP01S & Latest .bin

#1 Post by Grumpf » 28 Apr 2021, 17:48

I just read too late that using ESP01S is discouraged... I was just wondering if there's something more recent than R120 that I can use, particularly as I'd gladly like to see them in the node list.
I don't need OTA and can compile if needed.

Thanks !

I have still three boards working with build 145, works perfect.
ESPEasy_R145_RC6.zip is available.

All 1M builds can fit.
If you don't need OTA, you can run quite a lot of builds. The main problem is when you try to do OTA updates on 1M modules.
For those you need to run "minimal OTA" builds, but since you don't need those you can run a lot of plugins on 1M modules.

Thanks, it took a lot of reboot some erase and re-flash but at the end I managed to upload the latest 1MB version using the flash.cmd & esptool.exe from R120 (just renaming the bin something the batch will understand).

I had some issues with many boards (all sorts) where it refuses to connect to the Wifi after the AP sequence; reboot and go back to default AP 192.168.4.1.

What I noticed is that in most of those cases, the ESP is seeing more SSID than when it'll work immediately, like hidden even if the box is unchecked. I dunno if that gives you any clue of what's going on.

Also the ESP is showing the SSID by BSSID, I'm wondering why as the whole point is to connect to the strongest BSSID with the SSID name (no?). So does that mean (I never tried) that the Node will not dynamically switch to the strongest signal ?

Thanks again anyway,
Cheers !
