Sonoff S31

#1 Post by ReillysDad » 13 Oct 2021, 22:17

I have cameras in a remote location and all are plugged into AC power. Each camera draws less than 1 amp. I would like to be able to cut the power going to each of the cameras using a Python script on a Raspberry Pi. I am contemplating using Sonoff S31 flashed with ESPEasy. My question is this: Is the Sonoff S31 durable enough to be in the "On" position for 24 hours consecutively? Should I look for something more durable?

I just had to check if this module was even running an ESP cpu. But it appears Tasmota can also run on it, so I guess so :)

See also here: https://tasmota.github.io/docs/devices/Sonoff-S31/
Especially to read the warnings over there.

I think 1 Amp is not that much, so even those Sonoffs should be able to handle.
Just pay attention to the warnings on the Tasmota page as it seems rather tricky as there is no isolation from mains.
So never ever connect anything to its electronics when it is connected to mains.
